Dear Father,

In 1979, my husband had a cancer operation on the inside of his mouth. The surgeons removed part of his jaw and cheek. A year later, the doctor was forced to remove another tumor from his throat and all of the lymph glands. It was anticipated that his voice box would also have to be removed. His condition grew worse. He was ravaged by a relentless cough.

In 1981, I went to the Shrine on a pilgrimage [and] asked one of the Friars to pray for my husband. I told them of the cancer in his throat. The Friar placed his hand on my throat and prayed most fervently.

When I returned home I placed my hands on my husband’s throat. He told me that while I was praying at the Shrine, his horrible cough ended. The doctor is continually amazed that my husband’s mouth and vocal cords have no more malignancy. Not for one moment do any of us doubt this is a wonderful healing from Our Lady of Consolation. God be praised!
