Knowing you feel interested in all who visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation, I wish to inform you of my condition since my arrival home.

I can say I am feeling better, and noticed a gradual improvement each day and was very glad to see my brother at Mass on Sunday.  I have been able to attend Mass everyday.  As yet, he has not made his Easter duty but I will not give up until I am successful.  The first Sunday, after my return home the people were so surprised to see me at church and abut all I hear is, "why, how much have you gained in the last week."  The nervousness after eating has not troubled me in the least since I have been to Carey and I certainly feel myself greatly blessed although I still have to be quite careful with my diet.  I have not yet tried the Champaign but will as soon as I am able to get it.  I take olive oil freely at each meal, eat a variety of vegetables and have relished a few strawberries without any bad results.

My niece I spoke of who is suffering with typhoid fever is very ill.  She has St. Vitus Dance and we feel much alarmed about her as she is also afflicted with organic heart trouble.  Her brother, a young man of 27 years who has made his home in St. Louis was brought home sick with bright disease, a week ago today and died on Saturday.  His funeral took place yesterday morning.  Sad as the death is to the family, their grief is heightened by the very precarious condition of their daughter.  Trusting to be enclosed in your prayers and with hopes of visiting Carey with a number of friends during the summer.
