Dear Brother Jeffrey,

A few years ago my son was working two part-time jobs. He kept filling out applications for a full-time job and was hoping to find a job in retail sales. I was hoping for something a little more stable.

I went to the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation and asked our Blessed Mother for her help. I lit a candle for my son and asked her to please help him get a decent job.

A month later, my son was offered a full-time job in retail management. Now, Our Lady knew that was not what I had in mind, but it was exactly what my son wanted. The candle taught me a lot: Accept the way our prayers are answered. My son did get a good, full-time job, for which I was thankful. Both he and my husband loved the trick Our Blessed Mother played on me!
