Looking back on his life in Jesus, Francis saw that in the life of the Spirit, as in nature itself, there was a rhythm, a plan that his Father in Heaven had ordained. Jesus Himself spoke in little parables of seasons and weathers, and Francis was in his own soul that they were true.

The bright summer sun of his conversion and the heat of the days of his first fervor melted into the mellow fruitfulness and warmth of autumn days when he would walk the fields of Umbria through the mulberry patches, through the harvested wheat and corn fields and up the red and gold hillside of Mount Subasio to his hermitage.
When looking back on your life in Jesus, have you set aside time for solitude and meditation or an opportunity for rest, relaxation, and friendship? Have you taken time out of your busy lives for prayer and renewal, as well as for learning? Any Season or Weather is a good time to visit us here at the Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation Retreat House for a weekend retreat or just for a couple of nights, to stop and pray with us. |
