2010: A Year of Blessing
This year we have a wonderful opportunity to reflect upon all of the blessings God has bestowed on us in the past and to look forward to the ones he will give to us during the coming year. At Our Lady of Consolation this year, we are choosing to look at our Shrine as a place of great blessings, large and small. So many people come here looking for God’s touch in their lives and leave at peace and with hope in their hearts. We hope that you, too, will open your hearts to the many blessings God bestows here through the intersession of Our Lady of Consolation. Whether you can come here in person or send us your prayer intentions through the mail or over the Internet, please let us share with you the many blessings God grants through the prayers of Our Lady of Consolation.

All of us plan things. We all have our own list of objectives and things we feel we must accomplish in our lives. I find that once I have finished my plans, know just where I am going and when I should arrive, something happens to turn all of those plans around. Often it is the will of God that helps me to see the direction I really should be going in. Listen to these words of Saint Louise de Marillac: “No desires, no resolutions. The grace of my God will accomplish in me whatever He wills.†|

Saint Dominic Savio, only a youngster when he went home to the Father leaves us with this simple yet most profound statement: “I can’t do big things, but I want all I do, even the smallest thing, to be done for the greater glory of God.†|

For many of us, when we have completed a project, we often stand back and ask ourselves if the time and effort was worth it! If this is the case we would do well to remember these words of Blessed Zeferino Agostini: “Do not be dismayed by toil or suffering, nor by the meager fruit of your labors. Remember that God rewards not according to results but efforts.†|
