2010: A Year of Blessing
This year we have a wonderful opportunity to reflect upon all of the blessings God has bestowed on us in the past and to look forward to the ones he will give to us during the coming year. At Our Lady of Consolation this year, we are choosing to look at our Shrine as a place of great blessings, large and small. So many people come here looking for God’s touch in their lives and leave at peace and with hope in their hearts. We hope that you, too, will open your hearts to the many blessings God bestows here through the intersession of Our Lady of Consolation. Whether you can come here in person or send us your prayer intentions through the mail or over the Internet, please let us share with you the many blessings God grants through the prayers of Our Lady of Consolation.

How do we awake each morning? What is that first conscious thought that we form in our mind just before our feet hit the floor for the beginning of a new day? Why not form the words Jesus in our mind! Let those first thoughts be a prayer! We have so many things to be thankful for each day of our lives. What about the great gift that we have in opening our eyes and minds to another new day! Why not make our first thoughts those of thanksgiving and praise? |

We often make resolutions as we go into a new year, and well we should. This is a good time to make an effort to give up habits that are bad for us, especially if we know those habits are bad for our physical health.
More important is our spiritual life. As we look at our lives, one of the most important decisions is for us to begin this year with a new heart! Turning our thoughts more often to that one great Heart, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in whom all things are made new. |

Our own Saint Theodora Guerin sums up her advise to all of us very nicely in these words: “Repent of your sins and failings; take resolutions to do better and, after that, be quiet.” |
