2010: A Year of Blessing
This year we have a wonderful opportunity to reflect upon all of the blessings God has bestowed on us in the past and to look forward to the ones he will give to us during the coming year. At Our Lady of Consolation this year, we are choosing to look at our Shrine as a place of great blessings, large and small. So many people come here looking for God’s touch in their lives and leave at peace and with hope in their hearts. We hope that you, too, will open your hearts to the many blessings God bestows here through the intersession of Our Lady of Consolation. Whether you can come here in person or send us your prayer intentions through the mail or over the Internet, please let us share with you the many blessings God grants through the prayers of Our Lady of Consolation.

These words of Saint Ambrose, though short as they may be, should be in our hearts each and every day: “Let your soul be attentive to His word; follow carefully the path God tells us to take.” |

Many of the Saints remind us that we would do well to pattern our days on the Blessed Mother, Our Holy Mother Mary. One of the most beautiful expressions of this image of Mary in our lives can be found in these words of Saint Sophronius: “The Mother of God, the most pure Virgin, carried the true light in her arms and brought Him to those who lay in darkness. We too should carry a light for all to see and reflect the radiance of true light as we hasten to meet him.” |

Whenever we become so totally wrapped up in all those things in our lives that we feel we must do often leaves us completely worn out! In those times when we are so filled with things and situations, we would do well to remember these words of Saint Cyprian of Carthage: “Our only obligation is to do God’s will and not our own!” |
